The updated weblog is go

Welcome to the 5th edition of this web log! For the past decade or so, this website was built with Jekyll. However, in the past few years my hodge podge of an asset pipeline built on Gulp meant that publishing anything started to become very difficult.

Today, this website is built using Eleventy[1], switching Jekyll’s Ruby to more web native Javascript. The main user facing changes are sharper images brought to you by AVIF and WebP and the <picture> element, and a bit simplified layout.

Due to some conflict with markdown-it plugins or my failure to get them working together, one thing that is currently missing are the titles for images, which were previously available as captions.

Anyway, with the new setup now finally live I hope I can now flush my backlog on to the world.

  1. A beta version of it, because the currently available stable version trips over itself because of my old permalink style. I spent a considerable amount of time to preserve the URL structure, because Cool URIs don’t change. ↩︎
